An old sketch.
Pelargonium
Watercolor, ink, pencil.
“In winter, the Victorians brought pot-grown pelargoniums indoors, and positioned them so that their long skirts would brush against the plants, thus scenting a room. In summer, they moved the pots outdoors and put them along paths for a similar effect.” (from Reader’s Digest Home Handbooks: Herbs)
Fragaria Vesca
Watercolor and some ink.
Wild strawberry. Not the most favorite thing I’ve ever made, but I’m lacking original ideas lately, so I’m painting plants to avoid laziness. This belongs with the geranium.
I consider this to be a sketch for something in the future, but I don’t know what that is yet.
Still developing my ghost idea. I don’t think I like this particular one very much. Just practicing.
This was made on my 9x12” watercolor block, and it barely fit on the scanner. I’m going to need to find a bigger scanner for my 11x15” block!
Playing with masking fluid. I went to the art store yesterday to get more watercolor blocks, and they were out of everything except for Arches blocks, which are so expensive (but probably awesome; wouldn’t know since I’ve never splurged on one). I did get a cheap watercolor pad just to practice on. The texture is weird; it almost has regular grooves on it. Can you see it in this scan?
