Art by Gabrielle Rose. I live in Oakland, CA. Watercolor and ink are my favorite media. Get in touch at hello@drawgabbydraw.com.

Sometimes at night when I leave my paint water on my desk I’m afraid that an earthquake will happen while I’m sleeping and the paint water will tip over onto my painting and ruin it.

Guess who’s home at her desk after a month! Look how happy my inks are to see me!

Today is my last day in London! It’s been so wonderful to be here the past month. Writing an entire post about what I’ve done seems exhausting at the moment, so here’s a picture of a Damien Hirst painting at the Tate Britain that I probably wasn’t supposed to photograph.
Oh and something else I did was meet a fellow tumblr, Patrick, in real life. As far as first meetings with someone you’ve only talked to online, I couldn’t have hoped for better. I encourage you to check out his photography at patrickmccloskey.tumblr.com/.

Somewhere in east-ish London.
I’m staying in and painting this evening. I’m sad I don’t have a scanner so I can easily share my progress. My little point and shoot camera doesn’t take good pictures without natural light. Maybe tomorrow when it’s day time (not that it will be sunny, but it won’t be pitch black outside my windows at least).

Working on some stuff for a consignment show in San Francisco on the theme “vitals”, so I’m painting lumpy, living things. What comes to mind when you think of “vitals”?

Photo reply with your costumes, plz? I want to enjoy Halloween vicariously through all of you, since I’m not doing anything, as usual.

Hey my friends. Just wanted to let you know that even though I’m going to be away from home for the next month, that doesn’t mean draw Gabby draw! is going on vacation. I plan on bringing some smaller, portable watercolor supplies and my tablet. I won’t have a scanner, but I will have my trusty little camera to take photos of any worthwhile doodles or paintings, and there will be the occasional reblog of my favorite artists. Plus I’ll be around on twitter. I hope you’ll stick around!
(And just because, here are some doodles I made, above. Obviously.)

It’s true, you are!
And I’ll totally understand if anyone unfollows me because these doodles are kind of lousy—but super fun! There are still lots of great suggestions I don’t think I’ll get to. Some of them deserve better than a quickie tablet drawing. Maybe I’ll get out the paints and take my time on something for now.
Thanks again for all your ideas!

Because I just need to but I don’t have any good ideas, just terrible ones. Any good ideas out there in the tumblrverse?
EDIT: Wow! Fun suggestions! That was a good doodling exercise. I might put the tablet away now and try to make some of these in real life.

Updates

(Photo is from here.)

Hello everyone. September ended up being a rather busy month for me. Quite frankly, I can’t believe October is tomorrow. A few updates are in order:

  • I leave for London in two weeks! I’ll be there for a whole month. Drop me a line if you want to hang out and draw and/or drink beer or if you have suggestions of things I should do while I’m there.
  • Starting next month I’ll have prints available at a boutique in San Francisco that sells art, apparel, and accessories all made by local artists. This is so exciting for me! I’m in the process of packaging and pricing everything and nailing down paperwork. More news on that in the near future.
  • In November/December, I’m participating in another show at Swankety Swank. That’s a while off, I guess, but I need to start making art now. The theme is “Vitals”. Fun!
  • Finally, I’m having a sale in my Etsy shop since I will be closing my shop for the month while I’m away. Enter coupon code TUMLUV at checkout and get 15% off your order at drawgabbydraw.etsy.com.

Love,

Gab

I just want to make things all the time and answer all my art-related emails in a timely manner and be my own boss and have a little more space to draw.

Ok so instead of just whining about it I’ve made that my goal for the coming year. Hold me accountable, ok?

And here’s the nib I broke. I was shaking the pen over the inkwell to rid the tip of excess ink and hit the lip of the glass. Cripes!
