Because I just need to but I don’t have any good ideas, just terrible ones. Any good ideas out there in the tumblrverse?
EDIT: Wow! Fun suggestions! That was a good doodling exercise. I might put the tablet away now and try to make some of these in real life.
Updates

(Photo is from here.)
Hello everyone. September ended up being a rather busy month for me. Quite frankly, I can’t believe October is tomorrow. A few updates are in order:
- I leave for London in two weeks! I’ll be there for a whole month. Drop me a line if you want to hang out and draw and/or drink beer or if you have suggestions of things I should do while I’m there.
- Starting next month I’ll have prints available at a boutique in San Francisco that sells art, apparel, and accessories all made by local artists. This is so exciting for me! I’m in the process of packaging and pricing everything and nailing down paperwork. More news on that in the near future.
- In November/December, I’m participating in another show at Swankety Swank. That’s a while off, I guess, but I need to start making art now. The theme is “Vitals”. Fun!
- Finally, I’m having a sale in my Etsy shop since I will be closing my shop for the month while I’m away. Enter coupon code TUMLUV at checkout and get 15% off your order at drawgabbydraw.etsy.com.
Love,
Gab
I just want to make things all the time and answer all my art-related emails in a timely manner and be my own boss and have a little more space to draw.
Ok so instead of just whining about it I’ve made that my goal for the coming year. Hold me accountable, ok?
And here’s the nib I broke. I was shaking the pen over the inkwell to rid the tip of excess ink and hit the lip of the glass. Cripes!
London!
Hey guys. Personal news and stuff in this post including the news that I’ll be in London for a month this fall. Who lives in London? Click below to read the rest.

This palette sucks. It is not at all what I’d intended, but now I know what it isn’t, and that, to me, is progress.
(The yellows and purples on the left were for something unrelated. It’s that dumb tree stuff on the right that I can’t stand.)
Doodling on Photobooth photos. Actually, now I’m working on a color palette for my current collab with Dave. I’ll show you when I finish!
Oh my, did I splurge today…
All you want is your tumbling. Just tumbling all day long.
— My husband
I’ve been waiting to buy art until we moved and I was sure my new pieces would have frames and a more permanent home on a new wall. Here are some lovely pieces that just came in the mail!
Some awesome Laser Cats by medusawolf.
Delightful gocco print monsters by Emma Kidd, plus some extra goodies (a mask and a sea monster!). Also, the envelope had koala stamps, which is awesome because it shipped from Australia. Squee!
And a super duper doodle coloring book from Doodlers Anonymous. It came with a postcard that you can doodle on and mail back to them, which I plan on doing very soon!
The evening with Bill Plympton was amazing! Not only did he do some live drawings to illustrate his talk, but he showed and narrated the storyboard to his new dog film, and we saw a six minute pencil test of his newest short (it’s going to be beautiful), which you can’t see anywhere else.
And then I got THIS! It’s the dog! He’s saying my name! Plympton drew it! (Dave got a cow.)
Oakland, etc.

I’m moving. This post isn’t very art-related, so for those who are not interested, I’ll spare you the details above the jump. If you wish to read more, click below!
