Hey everyone! I know it’s early, but the holidays are coming up, and if you plan to get some art from my shop as a gift, I suggest ordering sooner than later. I’ll be out of town this Wednesday through Sunday, so anything ordered during that time will ship a week from today (next Monday, 11-26). If you’re ordering from outside the U.S., keep in mind that international orders can take up to 2 weeks’ worth of business days to arrive (I’m looking at you, Australians!), which really means almost 3 weeks of wait time.
Feel free to contact me with questions you might have about ordering stuff from my shop: hello at drawgabbydraw dot com or through the ask box.
I’m often asked what kind of watercolors I use. I use Prang watercolors. They are the only tray watercolors that I know of that are worth painting with. I realize I’m stuck in 5th grade art class. I don’t know why I’ve never transitioned to tube watercolors. Anyway, when you run out of a color in your tray you can order refills! I tend to run out of blue and black the fastest.
There are a lot of watercolor options out there. I suggest trying a few kinds and seeing which you like best. Just avoid “student quality” paints. I bought a tube or two of student quality watercolor, and they were terrible. They turned to chalk on the paper after they dried.
Dreaming and stuff. Lots of black liquid watercolor and ink, and of course regular watercolor. I initially painted all of the dark stuff, but it didn’t turn out the way I wanted, so I filled in the hole with a sleeping girl.
The white spots around her head are white ink. The white spots at the top of the drawing were dots of masking fluid that I painted over and then removed. The little blooms in the black and brown paint were achieved by sprinkling salt on it while it was damp.

The team at Zeum did the nicest write up of my work and asked some great questions about me and my art. Click above to read it!
My brain just exploded. Music video for Björk’s song “Mutual Core”, directed by Andrew Thomas Huang.
Holy cow, Matthew Houston! If you’re not already following him, you should be.
House Call
I have not. I’m not sure if I should get them printed locally or if I should do something like Society6, or if it’s worth it to do them at all! I’ll definitely post them here if I do!

Finally restocked these three prints in my shop. Obviously you should buy one.
At long last Now I Know is available as a 9x12” print in my shop. All those fine lines are reproduced really nicely!
